One characteristic of Spain that we find similar to India is that Spain feels more like a cluster of many regions rather than one country with a shared culture. A different language and distinctive historical, political and cultural tradition greet you every few miles. This is reflected in the many fiestas (festivals) that are celebrated in the different regions of the country. From the bull-running of Pamplona, the fireworks of Las Fallas in Valencia, the mock battles of Moros y Cristianos in Alcoy, Semana Santa in all of Andalucia and the massive Feria de Abril in Seville; each of these festivals highlight a culture unique to the region.

To experience this diversity take the road less traveled and your holiday to Spain can be a smorgasbord of a rich cultural rollercoaster ride. You may be a history lover, an adventurist, a food enthusiast or Sunseeker; Spain never disappoints. You can go scuba diving near Barcelona, go wine tasting in the vineyards of Rioja; explore the world’s largest Gothic cathedral in Seville or walk the pilgrims’ route to Santiago de Compostela; the experiences are endless. Look beyond the clichés of tapas, matadors, sangria, and siesta and you will find an amazingly diverse country that is waiting to be explored.
