Comfort is Key

When to go:

The best times to visit Rajasthan are October to March as days are sunny, not too humid, with cooler nights. The desert influences start doing their damndest in April, May, and June when temps soar, although this brings tigers out in search of water, so great for safaris.

Primary airports: Jaipur & Udaipur

Main Festivals / events:

  • Jaipur Literature Festival – Jaipur (January) This festival plays host to some of the most diverse group of people ever – authors from all over the world, legends and new kids on the block and a wonderful audience gather at the beautiful Diggi palace to pay an homage to literature. Oh, and did you know this is the largest free literary festival on earth? Yes, largest on the planet! There’s also readings, debates, live music, workshops and an experience of a lifetime!

  • Pushkar Fair, Ajmer (November)– Held each November at the time of the Kartik Purnima full moon, Pushkar Camel Fair is one of India’s most highly-rated travel experiences, a spectacle on an epic scale, attracting thousands of camels, horses and cattle and visited by over 400,000 people over a period of around fourteen days. For visitors, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the color, spectacle, and carnival of one of the last great traditional melas, which brings livestock, farmers, traders and villagers from all over Rajasthan.
