Let’s make it clear; it wasn’t love at first sight. We found Iceland to be weird! To begin with, there is the language, with words like Grjótagjá (how do you pronounce these?); the weather is rather bizarre; then there is the food (or lack of it) and the landscape that feels quite strange. It is a dark and windy island that has a supernatural aura about it. It is also said to be one of last few places on earth to be settled by humans. An island that sees volcanic eruptions every couple years! How would you holiday here, you might ask?

Interestingly these are the peculiarities that make this small isolated country at the edge of the Arctic, a unique geological wonder and hence, appealing to the experience hungry travelers, like us. The otherworldly landscape is unfathomable in words or pictures – you have to see it to believe it. Iceland is more than just your desktop wallpaper. It is ‘The land of Fire & Ice’; ‘The land of the midnight sun’ and ‘The land of dancing lights’. Not dark and windy but genial and breezy. Nature adds its touch and eventually, the country grows on you. You return impressed.

Are you converted, yet?
