One of the biggest fears that most Indian vegetarian travelers are fearful of while travelling to South East Asia is what if they do not enjoy the local south eastern cusine.

More importantly if you have pure vegetarians in your midst then cusine becomes a distinct challenge to enjoy the hoilday. We at Black Swan Journeys have curated a list of eats and places to eat to ensure that your vegetarian and Indian food pangs are taken care of when you holiday in Singapore.

Central Singapore: Bugis, City Square

1. Xing Hua Vegetarian Restaurant

:Serves typical Singaporean cuisine, this little gem of a restaurant is simple but serves fresh and tasty food. They are famous for their Veg Noodle soup.

Must try:  Xinghua Noodles, along with fresh juice. End your meal with Crunchy Tofu Ball with Peanuts – a healthy substitute for donuts. MSG is not used in this restaurant.

Cusine: South-East Asian (Serves both vegetarian and non vegetarian food)

2. Herbivore

A great place to try vegetarian versions of Japanese cuisine. The food is vegan friendly, as no eggs are used in preparing the food. They also do not use garlic & onion as well.


Must try:  The Unagi Bento Box is like the Indian thali, The Shasimi is to die for.

3.Nalan Pure Veg Restaurant

Indian restaurant with with both set meals and A la carte on the menu.  

Must try:  One of the few restaurants that open from breakfast. Jain preparation is also on the menue

Newton, Little India, Dhoby Ghaut

1.Classic Lao Di Fang Vegetarian Restaurant

: Everything here sounds very non-vegetarian but its not. The variety of specialty dishes, which include Deep Fried Beancurd, Mock Chicken and local delights, such as Fried Rice and Hong Kong Fried Noodles.

Must try: Deep fried dumplings, Vegetarian Peking Duck, Honey Dew with Sago

Pure vegetarian buffet which is run by a spiritual organisation, staffed by volunteers and its is a eat as much you can, pay as much as you want. It is a delightful little place.

3.MTR Restaurant

A place that does not compromise on food quality and has great service

Must try: Idli, Vada, Dosa with the most amazing Sambar. A great place for filter coffee.

4.Komala Villas Restaurant

A decent South Indian joint with a reasonable price tag

Must try: variety of dosas to try out.

5. Kailash Parbat

A popular fast food joint from Mumbai in Singapore. They also have Jain food

Must try: Chole Bature, Pav Bhaji, Ragda Pattice and chaats.
